Respiratory Care in Turkey — Expert Diagnosis and Treatment

Pulmonology in Turkey has advanced significantly, with the introduction of advanced bronchoscopic techniques, high-resolution CT with AI-assisted nodule detection, and access to modern biologics for severe asthma and COPD. Our partner respiratory centres offer a complete diagnostic workup — from spirometry and diffusion capacity testing to endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) and mediastinal staging — coordinated within a single visit.

  • Endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) for lymph node staging
  • High-resolution CT with AI-assisted pulmonary nodule analysis
  • Biologic therapy for severe asthma (dupilumab, mepolizumab)
  • Comprehensive sleep clinic with overnight polysomnography

Lung Cancer Screening in Turkey

Early detection saves lives. For current or former heavy smokers aged 50 and over, low-dose CT (LDCT) lung cancer screening can detect pulmonary nodules before they cause symptoms — and treat them at an earlier, more curable stage. Turkey's imaging costs make this screening cost-effective as a standalone trip: a full LDCT with radiologist report is available from £150, compared to £500–£800 privately in the UK.

Respiratory Treatment Costs in Turkey

Bronchoscopy with biopsy in Turkey costs £500–£900, compared to £2,000–£4,000 in the UK private sector. A comprehensive respiratory assessment — including spirometry, high-resolution CT and specialist consultation — starts from £300. Ongoing biologic therapy prescriptions for asthma or COPD can also be significantly cheaper when supported by a Turkish pulmonologist.

  • Bronchoscopy with biopsy: from £500 (vs £2,000+ UK)
  • LDCT lung cancer screening: from £150
  • Full respiratory workup (spirometry + CT + consultant): from £300
  • Sleep study (overnight polysomnography): from £350

Frequently Asked Questions

What respiratory conditions can be treated in Turkey?

Our partner centres treat the full range of respiratory conditions including COPD, asthma, bronchiectasis, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary hypertension, pleural disease, lung cancer and sleep-disordered breathing (obstructive sleep apnoea). Both diagnostic workups and ongoing management are available.

I have COPD — what treatment is available in Turkey?

COPD management in Turkey includes spirometry-based assessment, HRCT imaging, optimisation of inhaled therapy, supervised pulmonary rehabilitation and, where indicated, bronchoscopic lung volume reduction (BLVR). Our pulmonologists will review your current treatment and identify any gaps or upgrades.

How is sleep apnoea diagnosed and treated?

Diagnosis begins with an overnight polysomnography study in our partner sleep lab. Mild-to-moderate OSA is managed with lifestyle advice and mandibular advancement devices. Moderate-to-severe OSA is treated with CPAP or BiPAP therapy. Surgical options (uvulopalatopharyngoplasty) are also available for selected patients.

Is lung cancer screening available in Turkey?

Yes. Low-dose CT (LDCT) lung cancer screening is available at our partner radiology centres with same-day results. We follow USPSTF and BTS guidelines — typically recommended for smokers aged 50–80 with a 20 pack-year history. Positive findings are reviewed by a multidisciplinary thoracic oncology team.

Can I receive ongoing biologic treatment for asthma in Turkey?

Yes. Severe asthma biologics (omalizumab, mepolizumab, benralizumab, dupilumab) are available at our partner centres. Your Turkish pulmonologist can issue a prescription and treatment plan that your home physician can continue, often at significantly lower drug cost.
