What to Expect from Your Hair Transplant
The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia and typically takes 6–8 hours for a full session — you remain awake and comfortable throughout. Follicles are extracted from the donor area (typically the back of the scalp), processed and implanted into the recipient zone. Transplanted hairs shed within the first 2–4 weeks — this is entirely normal. New growth begins at 3–4 months; full density is typically visible at 12–18 months.

How many grafts do I need for a hair transplant?
The number of grafts depends on the extent of hair loss, the density desired and donor availability. Most patients with moderate hair loss (Norwood 3–5) require 2,500–4,000 grafts. Advanced loss (Norwood 6–7) may need 4,000–5,000 grafts. Your surgeon assesses this from photos before quoting — send us current photos for a free graft estimate.
What is the difference between FUE and DHI?
In FUE, channels are created with a punch tool first, then grafts are inserted. In DHI, the Choi implanter pen extracts and implants in one motion, eliminating channel creation. DHI offers more precise angle/direction control and is preferred for adding density to existing hair. FUE is generally preferred for larger sessions and hairline reconstruction.
Does a hair transplant leave visible scars?
FUE leaves tiny circular punch marks (0.7–1.0mm) in the donor area — these are virtually invisible when the surrounding hair grows back. DHI leaves even smaller marks. Unlike older strip (FUT) surgery, there is no linear scar. Most patients can cut their hair short without any visible evidence of surgery within 6–9 months.
When will I see the final result of my hair transplant?
Transplanted hairs shed in weeks 2–4 (shock loss — expected and temporary). New growth emerges at months 3–4. By month 6, approximately 60% of the final result is visible. Full density and final hairline definition are typically achieved by 12–18 months post-procedure.
Can women have a hair transplant in Turkey?
Yes. Female hair loss (androgenetic alopecia, traction alopecia or hairline lowering) is commonly treated with FUE or DHI in Turkey. Female candidates must have a stable donor area of sufficient density — your surgeon confirms this during the pre-assessment photo review.
